Domain Guard: Product Overview and Usage Guide

Product Overview

Domain Guard is a powerful security solution designed to protect your domain from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and fraudulent activities. It offers robust privacy safeguards, advanced monitoring tools, and real-time security alerts to keep your domain secure and under your control.

Why is it important to secure your domain?

Domain Guard prevents unauthorized transfers, protects sensitive information, and reduces exposure to spam, scams, and identity theft, ensuring a secure and controlled online presence.

IMPORTANT. Some Registries do not allow Domain Guard service as per their rules and regulations, e.g. the Austria .AT domain. Other domains can still have privacy protection but on a reduced level, as is the case with Australia’s .AU domain where only your Technical Contact Information can be hidden.

Domain Guard vs Private Tech

Both Domain Guard and Private Tech offer domain security and privacy, but they serve different purposes and provide varying levels of protection.

Domain Guard

  • Provides enhanced security against unauthorized transfers and domain hijacking.
  • Offers real-time monitoring and alerts for suspicious activities.
  • Ensures stronger privacy protection by shielding sensitive domain information.
  • Helps prevent cyber threats such as phishing and domain theft.

Private Tech

  • Available for domains where full WHOIS Privacy Protection is restricted (e.g., Australia’s .AU domain).
  • Typically hides only Technical Contact Information, not ownership details.
  • Prevents spam, phishing attempts, and unwanted solicitations.

How To Cancel the Domain Guard

This step-by-step guide walks you through disabling the Domain Guard using the Account Manager, ensuring a secure and seamless process.

IMPORTANT. Cancelling your Domain Guard will set your domain status to the public. This means that all your personal data will be unprotected. Your name, email, address, and contact numbers will all become available for public viewing in WhoIs. Moreover, there will be NO REFUNDS for cancelled/deleted products.

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Select the domain you want to manage.
  3. Click Manage next to the Domain Guard service.
  4. On the right side of the Domain Guard bar, open the menu by clicking the hamburger icon.
  5. Select Delete Domain Guard from the drop-down menu.
  6. Click Confirm Delete to finalize the removal.

NOTE. Activating or disabling Domain Guard will take up to 24 hours for the global WhoIs database to reflect the new privacy settings.
