Microsoft Outlook is an easy to use, yet advanced mail software that comes with Microsoft Office. This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook to check your email. This tutorial focuses on setting up Microsoft Outlook 2013, but these settings are similar in other versions of Microsoft Outlook. You can set up previous versions of Microsoft Outlook by using the settings in this tutorial.
Make sure you have created your email address in the Hosting Manager or Plesk for Windows Hosting, before setting it up in Outlook 2013.
If you have, then continue below.
Setting up Outlook 2013
These are the steps you need to follow to set up Outlook 2013 to сheck your email:
|When you first open Outlook, it will show a Welcome to Outlook 2013 message. Click Next to get started.
|On the next screen it will ask Do you want to set up Outlook to connect to an email account?. Choose Yes and click Next.
|In the Auto Account Setup menu, select Manual setup or additional server types, then click Next.
|On the Choose Service menu, select POP or IMAP, then click Next.
|On the POP and IMAP Account Settings screen, you need to fill in various fields with your name, server and login information. Fill in these fields.
|Below is a description of the fields:
|Enter the identifying name for your email address. In the example this is Bob Smith, but it can be a functional name as well such as Your Business Sales.
|Enter the full email address, such as [email protected].
|Choose whether you want to use POP3 or IMAP. POP3 downloads and removes your emails from the server, while IMAP leaves them on the server. We recommend POP3 (this is the default option).
|Incoming mail server
|Standard settings are mail.yourdomain.com (Replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain).
|Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
|We recommend using the Outgoing Mail Server Name of your current Internet Server Provider (ISP). Alternatively you can use mail.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain).
|Enter your full email address, such as [email protected].
|Enter the password you use for this email address. We recommend checking the Remember Password option so Outlook will save your password for future use.
|Require logon using Secure Password Authentication
|Do not check this option.
|Click More Settings.
|Click the Outgoing Server tab, check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and then check Use same settings as my incoming mail server. Click OK.
|Outlook will now test your account settings and you will see: Log onto incoming mail server, and Send test e-mail message. When they are completed click Close.
|You will see the message "You're all set!". Click Finish.
Congratulations, you have added your email account to Outlook 2013.
If you selected IMAP option during setup we recommend you subscribe to your Outlook 2013 so you can access and sync your email folder across all your devices.
