How To Change the Name Servers of My Domain

The name servers of a domain are its key DNS controller. Knowing the current name servers of your domain will tell you where you can manage the DNS records.

Follow these steps to know how you can access the name server section of your domain and how you can make your changes.

IMPORTANT

  • This guide is only applicable if your domain is registered with Crazy Domains. Confirm where you registered your domain name using the Crazy Domains WHOIS lookup.
  • Make sure that the domain name is not Expired. Otherwise, there will be no option to change the name servers.
  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Look for Domain Registration under your domain name and click MANAGE

NOTE. If you only have the TRANSFER option, this means that your domain name is not registered with Crazy Domains or may be in a different account. Transfer your domain now or make sure that you are in the correct account where the domain name is.

  3. On the domain page, scroll down to the Name Servers section.
  4. Hover over the existing name servers, then click Modify on the right side.
  5. Make the necessary changes:
    • Replace or delete the existing name servers.
    • Click + Add Name Server to add more name server field.
    • Enter the information in the Host Name fields (on the left) as instructed by your hosting provider. The IP Address (on the right) ideally auto populates in itself.
    • If your hosting is with Crazy Domains, know what name servers to use. Otherwise, contact your hosting provider and ask for the name servers.

  6. Click the Update button to save the new settings.

Name server updates will take 24-48 hours maximum. Track the propagation of the changes with a DNS Propagation Checker
